Mr. Aubrey Green, 93, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002 at Columbus, Miss. He was a native of Lamar County, Ala. He had worked at Seminole Manufacturing and as a restaurant owner and operator in Brewton from 1958-1969. He worked as a security guard at Baptist Memorial Hospital during his retirement. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Union Lodge #35 and Piney Grove United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patty Davis Locke Green and six brothers, Oakley Green, Lester Green, D.G. "Gunter" Green, Maxwell Green, J. T. Green and John W. "Woodfin" Green.
He is survived by his son, Thomas Locke Green of Columbus; his daughter, Sandra "Sandy" DeFrancisco of Brewton; his sister, Mary Green Johnson of Columbus and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 2 p.m. at Gunter and Peel Chapel in Columbus with Rev. Jeff James, Rev. Doug Bedgood and Rev. John Chandler officiating. Burial followed at Friendship Cemetery with Gunter and Peel Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Butch Edmonson, Chauncey Green, Buddy Hays, Gary Holtman, Bill Lockhart, Harold Youngblood, Jerry Green and Robert Green. Honoary pallbearers were J.T. Lock Jr., Ron Locke, Morris "Doc" Dowdle, Walter Yates, Fred Ray, Jimmy Robertson, E.E. Sanford, Charles Bolton, James Bolton, J.W. Dodson, Ralph Youngblood, Millard Patterson, Roy Gentry, George Gear, Bishop Cockrell, Louie Spruill, Robert Proffitt, Mack McCullough, Don Burns, Terry Langham, Terry Clark, Wayne Burnett, Jackie Turner, Tom Younger, M.D. Sudduth, Curtis Younger, Lee Younger, Ted Conn, Billy Nation, Jimmy Reece, Donnie Fountain, Charles Fountain, Jim Fountain, Hugh Fountain, Coleman Fountain, members of the Odd Fellows Union Lodge #35, residents of Gateway Commons Apartments, Dr. William Gates, Dr. Doyle Sumrall, Dr. John Whitecar and Wayne Howard.
