The W.S. Neal Lady Eagles visited the Northview Lady Chiefs for a December 9 matchup and found the hosts tough to handle in a 58-30 loss that dropped Neal to 1-5 on the season.
Although Northview played well on both ends of the floor in earning the victory, the Lady Eagles' inability to consistently hit shots from both the floor and the foul line contributed to the Lady Chiefs' success.
According to Lady Eagle head coach Dino Thurmon, the game was one of missed opportunities for his team.
The game started with both teams attempting to race out front by playing full-court basketball. The Lady Eagles cold shooting from short range contributed to Northview taking a 15-6 lead into the second period of play.
The Lady Eagles made a run at the lead early in the second quarter, but then the shots once again became more difficult to knock down. The Lady Chiefs regained momentum and control of the game midway through the period and entered the halftime break up 25-12.
Down by 13 points entering the third quarter, the Lady Eagles turned up the defensive intensity in an attempt to force Northview into mistakes. The tactic proved to be unsuccessful, as Neal's aggressive play caused foul problems for several Lady Eagle players. Meanwhile, the Lady Chiefs' play remained steady until the end and allowed them to exit with a 28-point win.
Lilly Fantroy led the Lady Eagles with eight points while Timiya Nolan added five points to the team total.
