Jennings Lambert Owens

Mr. Jennings Lambert Owens, 81, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003 at his Brewton residence. He was a native and life long resident of Brewton. He was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II where he was held prisoner of war by Germany. He received the Bronze Star and the American Ex-POW medal. He was retired from T.R. Miller Mill Company, a member of First Baptist Church of Brewton, a member of V.F.W. and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Jennings L. Owens Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret "Peggy" Owens of Brewton; two sons, Jennings "Bo" L. Owens II of Brewton and Walter Brooks Owens of Laurel, Miss.; one daughter, Gail Smith of Brewton; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 1 p.m. at Fort Crawford Cemetery with Rev. John Finklea and Rev. Jack Fitts officiating and Craver's Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Cosby Martin, Dr. Terry Parker, W.B. Travis, Russell Smith, Randal Huff and Charles Fountain. Honorary pallbearers were Scotty Byrne, Joe Sowell, Jake Lewis, Roy Stokes, Lauris "Spike" Barton and Yancey Jernigan.
