Support for troops needed at this time
Recent words from those in the highest offices of our nation has led many to believe that the question of war with Iraq isn't one of 'if it will happen,' but instead 'when it will happen.' Over the past few months military personnel from all branches have been mobilized to the Persian Gulf and, more recently, we have seen the activation of our state's National Guard and Reserve.
While our fighting men and women may not be at war yet, now is the time for us to demonstrate our support for them. Even those who do not believe war is necessary should understand that these men and women are fighting for what they believe and ultimately they will put their lives on the line for all of us.
In our view, it is never too early to show support for our troops. Those who are mobilized to regions on the other side of the globe need and deserve to know that the people at home are behind them every step of the way. While war may not be a foregone conclusion at this time, the fact that these people are there and ready just in case should give all Americans something to be proud of.
