To the editor:
I would like to share with our community how very proud I am of my mother, Margaret E. Watson. On Dec. 27, 2001 my mother's home was destroyed by fire. As you can imagine, it is one of the worst things a person has to face. The fire department called it a "total loss." Indeed it was. My mother had worked very hard to make that house into a home. In fact, it had also been my home for a short time. I have looked up to her as an example of how well a woman can make it on her own.
I still look up to her because in the month of February, two months after losing her house, she began building a new one. I am glad to say that I was there to see this miracle in action. My mother has had very little experience in construction. But, by the grace of God, she was able to escape the house fire and I believe that he has had his hands on her as he gave her the knowledge to build her new home. That is the only explanation for what a miraculous accomplishment she has made.
She has worked every day with her blood, sweat and tears going into every inch of this house. Today, this house is a home. Of course, like all homes, she feels there is still more work to be done, but what is there is a great accomplishment by a strong-willed woman. I am very proud to say she is my mother.
