Mr. Clayton Minchew, 75, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003 at his residence on Mayo Street in East Brewton after an extended illness. He was a native of Wallace and a long-time resident of East Brewton. He was a retired U.S. Army veteran and attended Alco Pentecostal Holiness Church.
He is survived by his wife, Gisela G. Schlicht Minchew of East Brewton; four sons, Mack Robert Minchew, Ernest Melvin Minchew and Jesse Minchew, all of East Brewton and Clayton J. Minchew of Jefferson City, Tenn.; one daughter, Janet K. Glass of Castleberry; four brothers, C.O. Minchew of Pea Ridge, Fla., Charles Lester Minchew of Staten Island, N.Y., Robert Earl Minchew of Montezuma, Kan. and James Minchew of Friendswood, Texas; one sister, Elizabeth Roberson of Alvin, Texas; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday, Feb. 21, at 3 p.m. at Williams Memorial Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Robert Wilson and Rev. Wilbur Graves officiating. Burial with full military honors followed at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in the Wildfork community with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
