Mrs. Nell Singleton Pitts, 66, of Mason Mill Pond Road, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003 at a local hospital after a brief illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Escambia County and was a member of the Brewton Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was the director of Healing of the Nations Ministries, past president of the women's ministry of Brewton Pentecostal Holiness Church and board member of the women's ministry of the Alpha Conference.
She is survived by her husband, Rev. Byrnes Pitts of Brewton; her mother, Savannah Darley of Brewton; five sons, Leon Pitts, Joey Pitts and Robert Pitts, all of Brewton, Lloyd Pitts of Spanish Fort and Julian Pitts of Laurel, Miss.; one daughter, Tegina Pitts of Brewton; one sister, Myrtice Cain of Castleberry; one step-brother, Charley Darley of Pensacola; one step-sister, Jean Wells of Pensacola and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral services were Sunday, Feb. 23, at 2:30 p.m. at the Brewton Pentecostal Holiness Church on Alco Drive with Rev. Leon Stewart, Rev. John Varner and Rev. David Stephens officiating. Burial followed at Weaver Cemetery on Appleton Road with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to Healing of the Nations Ministry in care of Brewton Pentecostal Holiness Church.
