A Brewton minister faces charges of sexual misconduct after a female accused him of enticing her as a minor.
Clyde F. Madden, 62, of 2437 Old Castleberry Rd. and pastor of the Brewton United Pentecostal Church on Hwy. 31, was arrested on Feb. 7 and officially charged with one count of enticing a child to enter vehicle, house, etc. for immoral purposes.
Madden was arrested following an indictment that was handed down by an Escambia County grand jury. Evidence obtained during an investigation by the Brewton Police Department was presented to that grand jury.
According to BPD Inv. Russell Martin a female approached the police department accusing Madden of inappropriate sexual conduct toward her that lasted for a period of about four years. The female was a minor for some of those years, but is now considered an adult by law. She made her accusation to the department in December which is when the BPD began their investigation into the matter.
Martin said he did not want to release information as the case is still under investigation, but added that the evidence obtained so far is "more than just he said, she said."
Martin said that Madden and the alleged victim initially came to know each other through the church.
Madden has been released from the Escambia County Detention Center on $5,000 bond.
