Mr. James Edward Shipp, 51, died Thursday, March 6, 2003 at a Pensacola hospital. He was a native and lifetime resident of Atmore. He was a retired employee from Fountain Correctional Center after 25 years, a member of the Retired Employees of the State of Alabama and attended the Baptist church. He was preceded in death by his father, James Venton Shipp.
He is survived by his wife, Margie M. Shipp of Atmore; his mother, Dollie Flowers Shipp of Atmore; a son, Steve Kelly of Perdido; two daughters, Connie Shipp Crews and Jamie M. Shipp, both of Atmore; a brother, Barney Ray Shipp of Nokomis; a sister, Carolyn DeViller of Maine and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday, March 8, at 2 p.m. at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Gladden Mothershed and Rev. Richard Daniels officiating. Burial followed at Sardis Cemetery with Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Ricky Crook, Shane Rollin, Johnny Burkett, Jeff Thayer, Jerry Searcy, Roger Alverson, Sam Lee and Hal Nesbett.
