After opening their season with a loss, the T.R. Miller Tigers have been on a roll that continues gaining momentum.
In a March 17 meeting with the Flomaton Hurricanes at Tiger Field, Miller improved its overall record to 6-1 with a thorough 14-0 thrashing of the Hurricanes.
While the Tiger pitching staff combined to hold Flomaton hitless, Miller's offense pounded the Hurricanes into submission in a game that ended in the fifth inning due to the 10-run rule.
Miller starting pitcher Alex Granade recorded a strikeout and tossed two groundout pitches in the top of the first as he sat the Hurricanes down in order.
The Tigers came to bat in the bottom half of the first and proceeded to inflict major damage on the visitors.
Following Joseph Turner's leadoff single, Brad Lannom and Russell Bagwell drew walks that loaded the bases.
Trent Davidson then stepped to the plate and delivered a monstrous grand slam home run that placed Miller in command, 4-0.
After Granade kept the Flomaton bats silent with another 3-up, 3-down top of the second inning, the Tigers blew the game wide open in their half of the inning.
Turner, Lannom, Davidson and Ryan Holland each produced RBI hits that were responsible for seven runs and an 11-0 Miller lead.
Following a scoreless third inning, the Tigers' advanatage did nothing but escalate in the bottom half of the fourth. Turner, James Martin and Kyle Rush crossed home plate as Miller padded the cushion to 14-0.
After the Hurricanes were again sat down in order in the top of the fifth inning, the game was called and Miller awarded the victory due to the 10-run rule.
Alex Granade went three innings while allowing no hits and striking-out five to earn the win.
Offensive leaders for the Tigers were Brad Lannom, 3-for-3 with two RBIs; Trent Davidson, 2-for-3 with five RBIs; Joseph Turner, 1-for-2 with one RBI; Eli Cook, 1-for-2; Ryan Holland, 1-for-3 with one RBI; Russell Bagwell, 1-for-3 and Randy Holland, 1-for-3.
