The Herrington family migrated from Georgia to what was Conecuh County about 1816. Ephriam Herrington (1758) was born in North Carolina and died 25 July 1839 in Emanuel County, Ga. On November 15, 1851, Micajah Herrington Sr., his wife, Rebecca and their son, Micajah Herrington, all died of yellow fever while they were living near Milton, Fla. Micajah was an up and coming young timber man and Elizabeth's mother was pleased that he wanted to marry her daughter. There was no jeweler around, so the wedding ring was made from a $5 gold piece which cost $1.50.
