Do your fair share on Earth Day
In April 1970, America showed that it understood many of the problems facing our environment and looked to bring attention to it through the first-ever Earth Day. Since then, the environmental movement has had its ups and downs, but few can argue the importance of a clean environment.
This year, Earth Day will take place on April 26 and some Brewton residents are planning on getting involved through a community-wide clean-up. On this day, people are asked to join the effort in any way they can. Whether it is picking up trash along a stretch of highway or cleaning up our own yards, every little bit will help improve our environment and make our community more attractive.
In our view, Earth Day is a day the entire community should recognize by lending a helping hand for the betterment of our community. There are countless chores that can be done, but by working together we can make Earth a better place to live.
