Mrs. Janet Beverly Powell, 56, died Monday, March 31, 2003. She was a native of Escambia County and had resided in Washington D.C. before moving back to Brewton in 1979. She was a school teacher who taught in Washington D.C. and in the Escambia County School system. She was most recently a teacher at W.S. Neal Middle School.
She is survived by her husband, Adam C. Powell Sr., a daughter, Sharanda Powell of Brewton; a son, Adam C. Powell Jr. of Brewton; a sister, Jean Bright; a brother, Johnny Jackson II; an aunt, Rosia Robbins and a number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, Apritl 4, at 11 a.m. at Baptist Hill Missonary Baptist Church with Rev. S.C.Tucker officiating. Burial followed at Baptist Hill Cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
