Mrs. Dewey Faye Brown Portwood, 73, died Wednesday, July 9, 2003 in a local hospital after an extended illness. She was a native of Munson, Fla. and a long-time resident of Escambia County, Ala. She attended New Vision Church and was retired from the retail sales industry.
She is survived by her son, William "Nathan" Portwood of Hanford, Calif.; two daughters, Deloros O'Dell of Anniston and Debera Freeman of Brewton; four sisters, Helen Braden of Destin, Fla., Julia Faye Brown of Gonzales, Fla., Shirley Ann Renda of Sarasota, Fla. and Linda Brown of Brewton; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 11, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. William Joyner and Rev. Tim Floyd officiating. Burial followed at Fort Crawford Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
