The Post 79 (Brewton) American Legion team will kick off Division 3 tournament plat this Thursday in an opening round game against Wallace (Dothan).
The tournament, which is being held at Northcutt Field in Dothan, features six teams, with the first championship game to be played on Sunday at 4 p.m.
The Brewton team, which brings a season record of 15-15 into the tournament, is heading to Dothan after an impressive extra-inning win last Sunday in Brewton.
It took 11 innings, and two runs in the bottom of the final frame, for Brewton to put away Enterprise in a game played at T.R. Miller High School.
The team has been playing since since the last week in May and is made up of players aged 16 to 18.
Some of the competition they have faced this year includes Covington County, Post 12 (Dothan), Opelika, Andalusia, Wetumpka, Wallace (Dothan), Uriah, Enterprise, Sampson, Montgomery, Prattville and Clanton.
The players all come from local high schools, including T.R. Miller, W.S. Neal and Flomaton High Schools.
If Brewton wins its opening game, it will face Samson at 7 p.m. Friday. If it loses, it will face either Post 12 (Dothan), or the winner of the Montgomery or Post 73 (Enterprise) game.
