Mr. W.T. Newton, 86, died Saturday, July 19, 2003 at a Jay, Fla. hospital. He was a native of Flomaton and a resident of Century. He was a member of Greater Union Baptist Church in Century and had been an industry laborer. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ellen Newton; a son, Sgt. Kenneth Newton and a sister, Joyce Bell Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis C. Newton of Century; four sons, Williard Newton of Flomaton, Jimmy Newton of Century, Cecil Newton of Queens, N.Y. and Roy Newton of Pensacola; one daughter, Dorothy E. Newton of Century; a sister, Andrania Bonner of Pensacola and a brother, Johnnie R. Newton of Pensacola.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 23, 1 – 8:30 p.m. at Turner Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 24, at 1 p.m. at Greater Union Baptist Church in Century with Pastor Gerald Dortch, Pastor Henderson Powell and Pastor Kenneth Jessie officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Jordon Cemetery in Flomaton with Turner Funeral Home directing.
