Mr. Harlie Dockens, 80, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2003 in a Florida hospital. He was a native and lifetime resident of Christian Home. He was a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Christian Home Freewill Baptist Church, a member of the Freewill Baptist Association, a retired employee from St. Regis after 32 years.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Fillingim Dockens of Christian Home; two sons, Harlie Lee Dockens of Poquonson, Va. and Randy Dockens of New Town, Penn.; three step-sons, Thomas Fillingim Jr. of McDavid, Fla, John J. Fillingim of Jay, Fla. and Neil Fillingim of Brewton; two step-daughters, Susan Barnes and Gail Chavers, both of Christian Home; his brother, Fotch Dockens of Pensacola; two sisters, Sena Davis of Dogwood Park and Erma Higdon of Poarch; six grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 4, at 10 a.m. at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. R.C. Wiggins and Rev. John Shamblin officiating. Burial followed at Christian Home Cemetery with Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were his grandsons, Ian Dockens, Ryan Dockens, Michael Fillingim, Cameron Fillingim, Aaron Fillingim and Blake Barnes. Honorary pallbearers were F.W. Dockens, Donald Ray Dockens, Charles Davis, J.B. Jackson, Farriel Dreadin and Billy Ray Criswell.
