Amy Seay Lawson of Greensboro and Rhett Horton Cooper of Brewton were married Saturday, May 17, 2003 at Saint Paul's Episcopal Church in Greensboro. Rev. John Fletcher Comer Jr. officiated with Rev. Hoyt Winslett Jr. assisting.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Reid Lawson Jr. of Greensboro. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harris Magruder Coleman of Sawyerville, Mrs. Clarence Reid Lawson of Greensboro and the late Mr. Lawson.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Earl Cooper of Brewton. He is the grandson of Mrs. Wofford LeGreer Horton of Brewton, the late Mr. Horton and Mr. and Mrs. William Clayton Cooper of Montgomery.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of antique silk satin that featured a strapless bodice with crystals and pearls and a French bustled back.
The bride was attended by her sister, Mary Quitman Lawson Chandler of Tuscaloosa as matron of honor. The bridesmaids were sisters of the groom, Madelyn Cooper Cave of Brewton and Meredith Cooper Johnson of Birmingham and Kelli Ann Coleman of Auburn, cousin of the bride. Also serving as bridesmaids were Eliza Cobbs Lewis and Julie Fowler Otts, both of Mobile, Madeline Crawford Mullins of Huntsville, Lauren Holderfield Tanner of Birmingham, Kelly Renee Watson of Greensboro and Liz Godwin of Tallahassee, Fla.
The groom was attended by his father, William Earl Cooper as best man. The groomsmen were brothers-in-law, Garrey Allen Cave Jr. of Brewton, Eric Bryan Chandler of Tuscaloosa and Samuel Kirkpatrick Johnson of Birmingham. Also serving as groomsmen were Braxton Bragg Conner Jr of Atlanta, Hunter West Craig, Samuel McCurdy Kirkpatrick III, Jack Jones Pease IV and Christopher Neil Watson, all of Birmingham and David Williams Kemp of Montgomery.
After a trip to San Francisco and Sonoma Valley, the couple resides in Tuscaloosa.
