County Commission Chairman Larry White received a unanimous vote from Commissioners to be re-appointed to his current position for another one-year term.
In calling for a nomination for the seat, White stated that he was available for the position again if the Commission so desired.
During Monday's meeting, the Commission also heard from investments counselor Dan Britton of the South Alabama Trust Company. According to Britton, the Commission could now invest in U.S. Treasuries or Government Agencies at a good rate of return.
According to Britton, the County would best be served by investing in certificates of deposit (CD) at Escambia County Bank, which is now offering the best rate of return.
The Commission agreed to invest $1 million in a CD at the current rate of 1.85 percent. Upon advice from Britton, the commission will continue this investment process over the next few months.
In other business, the Commission voted to re-appoint two members to the E911 Board. Charlotte Boyle and James Bradberry, whose term were due to expire August 12, will serve on the board for another term.
Don Davis of Atmore was placed on a list of those to be considered for the Board of Equalization of Escambia County. The position, which is appointed by the Governor, is a customarily a four-year term.
Judge Bradley Byrne approached the Commission requesting assistance in obtaining additional office space for the Community Corrections Program.
A unanimous vote lead to a change in the poll location for voters in Nokomis. The polling machine will be placed at the Nokomis Volunteer Fire Department's firehouse moving it from its current location on Hwy. 31. White said that the polls will not be in the proposed location in time for the September 9 vote, but would be ready for future elections.
