Mr. A.R. Gunn, 83, died Friday, Aug. 22, 2003 in a Pensacola hospital. He was a native of Bonifay, Fla. and a resident of Atmore since 1931. He was a barber at Peacock's Barber Shop and attended the Baptist church. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Gunn; a sister, Dellie Ann Mason; a granddaughter and a step-son, Jerry Dale Gibson.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Gunn of Atmore; three sons, Leamond A. Gunn of Pensacola; Arthur G. Gunn of Walnut Hill, Fla. and Marlin Gunn of Atmore; three daughters, Shelia A. Coon and Patricia Smith, both of Atmore and Carolyn Joyce Coleman of Enon, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Gunn of Oak Grove; three brothers, L.D. Gunn, Chester Gunn and Kelly Gunn, all of Bratt, Fla.; 28 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 25, at 2 p.m. at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with his son, Arthur Gunn and son-in-law, Pete Coon officiating. Burial followed at Godwin Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kyle Gunn, Jeremy Gunn, Matthew Mothershed, Josh Coon, Richard Smith, Dwight Gunn and Paul Coleman. Honorary pallbearers were his 24 granddaughters.
