Bruce Hixon joined the staff of The Brewton Standard this week as its sports editor. In that role, Hixon will be responsible for covering the local high schools and middle schools, as well as Jefferson Davis Community College and the numerous area youth and recreation leagues.
Hixon comes to the area from Salem, Ill., where he served as sports editor at the Salem Times-Commoner. He worked there for nearly 12 years before moving to Brewton.
Hixon and his wife, Tami have an 11-month old son named Carson.
