A year ago the W.S. Neal Lady Eagles volleyball team won just one game in their inaugural campaign. Thanks to Thursday's 25-17, 25-19, 22-25, 7-25, 15-2 road triumph at Escambia County, WS Neal has now doubled that victory total.
In set one, senior Reshena Young began a big individual night with 14 points, three of which were aces. Senior Abby Howard contributed six points. Junior Jullian Crutchfield led the way at the net with three kills and a block.
The same trio paved the way to W.S. Neal's win in set two. Howard put up seven points to lead the serving, while Young notched six points with three aces. Crutchfield posted five points with a pair of blocks.
In set three Howard tallied eight points, while Crutchfield added seven. Young had just one point, but it was an ace.
After the sluggish performance in set four, W.S. Neal played a near flawless set five. Young was a perfect 11-for-11 at serve, while Howard posted three sets.
Thursday's action was supposed to include a match against Fairhope as part of a tri-match, but that match was cancelled.
W.S. Neal (2-4) is off until September 27 when it participates in the Clarke County Tournament.
