Magnolia Riley Simmons

Mrs. Magnolia Riley Simmons, 90, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003 in a Pensacola nursing facility. She was a native of Burnt Corn, a former resident of Evergreen and a resident of Century for the past 73 years. She was a nurse who began work in 1932 with Dr. Sam Turberville at the hospital in Century. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Century and of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar A. Simmons.
She is survived by her sons, Eddie A. Simmons of Gonzales, Fla. and W.,G. "Jerry" Simmons of Century; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 18, at 2 p.m. at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Flomaton Cemetery with Flomaton Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant Hospice of Pensacola or the Alger-Sullivan Historical Society where she was a charter member.
