Using revenue figures from the current year, the East Brewton City Council unanimously approved its budget for the coming fiscal year at a called meeting on Thursday.
The budget, which totals slightly less than $1 million, takes debt service into account, but also gives all city employees a 2 percent raise.
The city's main source of revenue is sales tax, which is projected to bring in $312,754 next year.
Employee salaries make up the largest portion of expense. Across all the departments, salaries and related expenses will cost the city over $507,000.
The police dept. will operate on a budget of $162,622. The fire dept. has a budget of $86,860. The public transportation dept. will operate on a $183,849 budget and the financial/administration portion of the budget is $565,267.
The city will receive $273,748, it is anticipated, in garbage and fire protection fees, as well as $110,000 in priv. licenses.
