Mrs. Lizzie Mae Nolen, 84, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003 in Detroit, Mich. She was a native of Butler County, Ala., a former resident of Atmore for many years and a resident of Detroit. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.T. Nolen; daughters, Ruth Johnson, Ruby Robinson and Elizabeth Arnold; two sons, James Nolan and Willie Nolen Jr. and three grandchildren.
She is survived by three daughters, Verna Johnson and Belinda Nolen, both of Detroit and Gracie Fisher of Mt. Vernon, Mich.; a step-daughter, Patricia Baker of Tampa, Fla.; three sons, Leon Nolen and Henry Nolen, both of Detroit and Robert Nolen of Atmore; three step-sons, William Nolen, Benjamin Nolen and Johnny Nolen, all of Grenta, Fla.; 30 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 3, from 1 to 8:30 p.m. at Turner Funeral Chapel and the body will lie instate at the church for one hour prior to the service.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 4, at 2 p.m. at Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church with Rev. Henry McNeal of Detroit officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel directing.
