The field of Clarke County, Sumter County, W.S. Neal and T.R. Miller made Tuesday's quad-match at Clarke County a preview of next Monday's Area Tournament.
The T.R. Miller Lady Tigers hope for a much more pleasant experience when they make their next trip to Grove Hill. T.R. Miller dropped a 25-20, 25-22 decision to Sumter County and a 25-14, 25-18 decision to Clarke County.
In the match against Sumter County, Charity Coleman had five points to pace the Lady Tigers in the opening set. Kristen Bradley was right behind with four.
Bradley had a team best seven points in set two, while Terri Lynne Peacock added four.
"Kristen had a great match passing, but as a team we made too many serving errors," T.R. Miller coach Sharon Peacock said.
The Lady Tigers will play Sumter County again in the opening round of the Area Tournament at 3 p.m.
In the Clarke County match, Peacock paced the Lady Tigers with 11 points. Bradley led the way in set two with seven.
"Terri Lynne had a great first set serving with 11 points, but those were the only points on offense we had. The other three came on defense," Peacock said. "We played pretty well in the second set, but it wasn't quite good enough. Clarke County has a pretty strong team although they didn't play quite as well as the first time we played them.'
