Mr. Roy Samuel Whittington, 63, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003 in Atmore. He was a native of Lottie and a resident of Atmore for the past 37 years. He was a member of the Lottie Volunteer Fire Department, in the National Guard in Bay Minette and was retired from Kimberly Clark after 35 years. He attended Lottie Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Carolyn Whittington of Atmore; two sons, Lloyd David Whittington of Lottie and Claude Steven Whittington of Stockton; three daughters, Rebecca Mae Boyington of Perdido, Teresa Lynn Bishop of Fairhope and Sandra Allison Whittington of Lottie; a brother, Donald Byron Whittington of Pine Grove; a sister, Shirley Anne Amos of Atmore; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 2 p.m. at the Lottie Baptist Church with Rev. Malcolm Harrelson officiating. Burial followed at Lottie New Home Cemetery with Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Dennis Ferrell, Darrell McDowell, Benny Biggs, Curtis Heathcock, Glenn Hadley, Nip Hadley, Wayne Dean and Dale Hunt. Honorary pallbearers were Dale Robison, Gopher McKinley, Bill Morrison, Buddy Mosley, Rodger McDuffie, Robert Hughes and Bennett Wilson.
