Mr. A.J. Smith, 90, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003 in a local hospital after a brief illness. He was a native and life-long resident of Conecuh County and was retired from Flexible Southern Manufacturing. He was a member of Oak Grove Holiness Church.
He is survived by his wife, Leottie Dawson Smith of Castleberry; three sons, Curtis Smith and Billy Smith, both of Castleberry and James Smith of Barnetts Crossroads; four daughters, Evelyn Pettis, Linda Williams and Carolyn Martin, all of Castleberry and Margaret Bradley of Laurel Hill, Fla.; two brothers, Riley Smith of Mobile and J.D. Smith of Castleberry; one sister, Alma Madden of Brewton; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove Holiness Church with Rev. David Baggett officiating. Burial followed at Oak Grove Holiness Church Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
