If you have noticed something going on at First Baptist Church of Brewton, you are not alone. There has been a lot of excitement this week with members of the church performing in "Judgment House," a drama designed to make people think. This is a program which began several years ago with the idea of giving teens a Christian alternative for Halloween. Because of its association with Halloween, the public may get the mistaken idea that it is scary, but that is not the purpose of the program. It has been such a success that it is performed all over the United States and has now gone international. Some 300,000 people saw the drama last year and the results have been phenomenal.
The drama consists of several scenes depicting decisions made by three teenagers and the results of those decisions. The locations of these scenes are a football game, a drinking party afterward, fifth quarter at the church, a terrible car crash and a glimpse of both heaven and hell. The scenes are designed to make the audience think about life-after-death and the consequences of their actions.
Performances will be held again on Sunday and Monday nights. There may be some openings left on the reservation lists for those who would be interested in attending. Call the church at 867-5769 if you would like to attend.
