A Jefferson Davis Community College employee won a top state honor during the Alabama College Association's annual meeting in Birmingham last week.
Anthony Hardy, JDCC's Director of MIS/Enrollment Management, was named outstanding administrator of the year. Nominated for the award by his colleagues at JDCC, Hardy received the award from postsecondary Chancellor Dr. Roy Johnson.
The chancellor's awards were established to recognize individuals with the highest standards of professional excellence among college employees, including administrators, academic faculty, technical faculty and support staff.
Also recognized were Dr. Lyn Gill and Latitia McCane, JDCC's nominees for outstanding faculty member, and Ada Adams, JDCC's nominee for outstanding staff member.
As director of MIS, Hardy has numerous responsibilities. He is responsible for the college's computer network, phone system, and for long-range technology planning and purchasing. He has developed new web site tools that allow JDCC employees to design and update their sections of the college web site.
He is responsible for federal, state and in-house reporting. He also has developed a Web-based grade book for instructional personnel, allowing instructors to go paperless in their reporting for internal purposes. He also has been recognized at the state level for his contributions to PS-DAX, or Post Secondary Data Exchange System.
Hardy serves on JDCC's hiring and selection committee, the enrollment management committee, the Title III Advisory Board, the Title III Curriculum Technology Advisory Committee, the Web Page Advisory Task Force, and the Outcomes Assessment Task Force. He is a member of the Alabama Association for Institutional Research and serves as vice president/president-elect of the Alabama College System Information Systems Association. He and his wife, JDCC history instructor Lisa Pace-Hardy, reside in Brewton.
