The capital murder trial of an East Brewton man charged with shooting a Brewton man outside a local nightclub earlier this year is set to get underway this week.
Kenneth Wayne Allen, of East Brewton, will be tried in a 21st Judicial Circuit courtroom this Monday.
He is charged with the shooting death of Edward L. Bell, of Brewton. The incident occurred March 15, outside Duckie's Bar and Grill in Brewton.
According to police information gathered at the time, Bell was found lying on the ground outside the bar with gunshot wounds to his chest and lower groin. He was later pronounced dead at D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital.
Police said they initially responded to a call that a fight had broken out inside the club, but could detect no altercation underway when they arrived at the scene.
Nineteen minutes later, police received a second call, advising them that there was a fight going on outside the club and that shots had been fired.
Upon their arrival police discovered Bell, mortally wounded.
Shortly thereafter, police charged Allen with capital murder. Two individuals police said accompanied Allen that night -- Keisha Nicole Harrison and Miker Crook -- were also detained by police. Within days, police charged Harrison and Crook with capital murder as well.
