Those who watched Tuesday's New Orleans Bowl football game between Memphis and North Texas may have noticed a familiar face.
Patrick Byrne, a 2002 graduate of T.R. Miller High School, handled kickoff duties for the Tigers. Byrne, a redshirt freshman, has also handled kicking and some quarterback duties for Memphis this season.
Earlier this year Byrne was named the Most Valuable Player at Memphis' Spring Game where he threw three touchdown passes.
Memphis, which led Conference USA in attendance, compiled an 8-4 record during the regular season. The bowl game appearance was the first for the Tigers since 1971.
