Mrs. Gussie Mae Lavender, 86, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003 at a local nursing home. She was a native of Butler County and a resident of Atmore for many years. She was a member of Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her father, Felix Gandy and her mother, Mary Blankenship.
She is survived by three daughters, Ruby Nell White, Bessie Mae Tanner and Mary Ann Davis, all of Atmore; two sons, Fred Gandy and James Williams, both of Atmore; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 20, at noon at Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church with Rev. Willie Hawthorne officiating. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel directing.
