The Chamber of Commerce spearheads the Christmas Project every year at this time.
They receive names of those who can use help through local schools and the Department of Human Resources, and then share the names with other organizations to help children have a merry Christmas.
Each organization raises its own funds and then uses the names the Chamber has collected.
Both Kiwanis and the Sportsmen Club take children shopping for Christmas at local businesses.
The Chamber coordinates and bags a collection of items bought with donations and contributions. The items mostly consist of clothing, but each bag has at least one toy. Parents must apply to be accepted into the project.
They then come to First United Methodist Church of Brewton to pick up the bags.
