Safe travel is a priority for Brewton law enforcement year round, but during the holidays, extra measures are taken by the police department to be sure area drivers are observing laws.
To deter and uncover violations, the Brewton Police Department will have extra patrol on duty and road blocks between the hours of 5 p.m. and 2 a.m., Christmas Eve through New Year's Day.
At the road blocks, police officers will be checking for drunk driving, seat belt usage, driver's licenses and auto insurance, said Brewton police chief David Lovelace.
