Ms. Laura Ann Payne-Roberts, 53, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004 in a Sarasota, Fla. hospital. She was a native and life-time resident of Atmore. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Atmore and had worked at Vanity Fair in Atmore and later as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with home healthcare services. She was preceded in death by her father, Elijah Payne; her sisters, Minnie Mae Payne and Mary Thomas and a brother, Richard Payne.
She is survived by a daughter, Fahamisha Robinson of Atmore; two sons, Sam Payne and Johnathan Roberts, both of Atmore; her mother, Mary Lee "Honey" Payne of Atmore; a sister, Mary Lee Payne of Atmore; three brothers, Arthur White of Biloxi, Miss., John Henry Payne of New York, NY and Wilson Payne of Richmond, Va. and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 11, from 7 until 8 p.m. at Turner Funeral Chapel in Atmore. Her body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service at Kingdom Hall.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 12, at 11 a.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness with David Rabon and Mack Salter officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel directing.
