Investigators and deputies with the Escambia County Sheriff's Office have arrested a local teen for a residential burglary.
On Jan. 5 at 11:33 a.m., the sheriff's office received a call from an alarm company that a residential alarm on Pea Ridge Road had been activated.
Sgt. Steve Wyatt and Deputy David Clark responded to the residence and found the back door to the house was open. The officers checked the house, but the suspect had left the scene.
Officers started questioning neighbors and discovered that one of the neighbors saw a young man that he knew in the area about the time of the alarm.
The witness told officers that the young man was Darryl Peterson, 18, of 115 Flemming Lane in Brewton. Investigators Jeff Beasley and Monte McGougin located Peterson at his residence and transported him to the sheriff's office. Peterson later took officers back to his residence and officers were able to recover a Nintendo 64 game system.
Peterson was arrested for burglary, third degree and is currently being held in the Escambia County Detention Center. Bond has not been set at this time. Captain Chuck McMullen said "The quick response by the deputies and the cooperation of the community is what led to the quick arrest of this suspect.
