Mrs. Clara Lee Downing, 91, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004 in a local nursing facility. She was a native and life-long resident of Brewton. She was a homemaker and was a long time member of North Brewton Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Downing.
She is survived by a son, Frederick Downing of Pineville, La.; a daughter, Emma Ruth Britton of Birmingham; a brother, Douglas Norsworthy of Jackson, Miss.; three sisters, Mary Wyatt of Dixonville, Sally Stokes of East Brewton and Lydia Lewis of Panama City, Fla.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 18, at 2 p.m. at North Brewton Baptist Church with Rev. Michael King officiating. Burial followed at Weaver Cemetery with Craver's Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Frank Carter, Doug Norsworthy, Don Norsworthy, Ed Britton, Jonathan Downing and Bud Jackson.
