Mr. Rubin Harris Sr., 76, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004 in a nursing facility. He was a native of Conecuh County and a resident of Atmore. He worked as a hydraulic operator at the Pensacola Naval Air Station and had served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Annie Singleton and Brenda Spruill and his brothers, L.W. Harris and Willie Harris.
He is survived by his wife, Alberta Harris of Atmore; two daughters, Linda McMillan of Hawthorne, Calif. and Yolanda Jones of Birmingham; a son, Rubin Harris Jr. of Atmore; four sisters, Lula Nolen, Barbara Primm and Lois Jones, all of Birmingham and Louise Lindsay of Calt, Calif.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 25, 2 until 8:30 p.m at Turner Funeral Home and his body will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 26, at 11 a.m. at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church in Atmore with Rev. Sanders Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Stallworth Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel directing.
