East Brewton's City Council met Monday to discuss, among other things, health coverage for city employees.
The council voted unanimously to approve a motion to keep the same coverage city employees currently have. The new policy will be effective Feb. 1, with the city paying 64 percent of the additional cost.
The council also entertained discussion about an ongoing private dispute over city property on Victory Street. The council decided to look into rain water diversion measures that would protect the adjacent private property from run off.
In new business, progress is expected to be made soon on the three houses on Mayo Street that are part of the Andrew Jackson Project Rehabilitation. Work on the houses was delayed due to Monday's rain.
Finally, Council member Bettie Jordan introduced the topic of recycling service in the city, which the mayor said would be economically prohibitive for now.
