Mrs. Ella Ruth Neese Plant, 82, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2004 at a local hospital. She was a native of the Cedar Creek Community and a life-long resident of the Brewton area. She attended Downing-Shofner School. She and her husband owned and operated A. Plant Jewelers for a number of years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Brewton and the local chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arrin L. "A" Plant.
She is survived by her son, Mack A. Plant of Brewton; a daughter, Kay Plant Walker of Richmond, Va.; three brothers, Julius Neese of East Brewton and Robert Neese Jr. and George Neese, both of Pensacola; one sister, Annie Bell Johnson of Pensacola; four grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 30, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Brewton with Rev. Jack Fitts officiating. Burial followed at Union Cemetery with Craver's Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Tommy Lawson, Tip Tarpley, Frank Stoshak, Will Rodgers, Gary Robinson and Bruce Long. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Order of the Eastern Star.
