Running a business is difficult enough even when everything goes right. But things are made doubly tough when unexpected bumps in the road come along -- things like not being paid on time or at all for the goods or services your business provides. All too often, this happens when merchants large and small find themselves holding bad checks. The county DA's office offers businesses help in collecting on bad checks, and goes after those who refuse to pay up. To make merchants more aware of the what the DA's Worthless Check Unit does, the office is holding an informational gathering Feb. 11, which is described in more detail on Page 1.
We encourage business owners to attend the meeting, and learn about the valuable service the unit provides. We also applaud the DA's office for keeping the business community in mind by scheduling this event.
