The Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce will introduce and honor Brewton's 2003 Citizen(s) of the year at its annual membership banquet on Thursday, Feb. 26. The banquet will be held at the Brewton Community Center behind city hall at 6:30 p.m.
And there's more on tap for the evening than just learning who's been chosen as 2003's Citizen of the Year honoree.
Entertainment for the evening will be provided by Conyers, Ga.-based personality Lanny Moody, who bills himself as a comedian, emcee, public speaker and juggler, and names Red Skelton, Jonathan Winters, Carrot Top and Tim Conway as his influences.
Moody is noted for performing a clean brand of comedy not often found on today's stand-up stages. Promotional material found on his website proclaims, "Lanny Moody is the funniest man on two legs! Lanny will have you holding your side laughing when he talks about the difference between a 'whipping' and a 'whooping.' Lanny then closes the show by juggling pens, balls, knives and torches."
Moody has performed on the television special "Comedy Street," has recorded a video and a CD, and is working on his first book.
In addition to the Citizen of the Year announcement and Moody's unique brand of entertainment, banquet attendees will enjoy a dinner consisting of grilled chicken, garlic mashed potatoes, green beans, roasted vegetables, salad, dessert, tea and coffee.
Tickets for the event should be ordered before 5 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 23. They are $25 each. More information on the banquet and ticket availability can be obtained by contacting the Chamber office at 867-3224.
