T.R. Miller sophomore Antonio Gomez did more than win two individual events at the Class 1A-4A indoor state track meet held at Priceville February 13-14.
Gomez later received the Top Male Athlete Award for that combined class.
"That is a great honor for Antonio. There were some great athletes in this group," T.R. Miller coach Alan Baker said.
For the second straight year, Gomez won the long jump with a leap of 20-11 1/2. He also claimed top honors in the 55 meter hurldes with a time of 7.9. Gomez notched a third place mark in the high jump, as he cleared 5-6.

T.R. Miller Lady Tigers basketball senior Ashley Samuel has now cracked the top 30 list on the Alabama High School Athletic Association career scoring list.
Samuel went into today's regional game against Tarrant with 2,123 points, good for 29th place on the list.
There are four players that have between 2,130 and 2,180 points that are ranked immeditaely ahead of Samuel. Samuel would have to reach 2,300 points before she could climb any higher.
By the way, T.R. Miller graduate Deanna Jackson is 22nd on the state career scoring list with 2,398 points.
The Brewton Country Club will be a stopping point on the Emerald Coast Golf Tour when it hosts the Winter Championship Pro-Am April 1-4.
The schedule of events for April 1 includes a practice round for both professionals and amateurs. A Pro-Sponsor Shoot-out will be held at 2:30 p.m. A Kickoff Party will be held during the evening.
The first round of the Pro-Am will be held April 2. The format will be two best balls of the four. Amateurs will receive a full handicap with a maximum handicap of 21. A Pro-Am Party will be held that evening at Brewton Country Club. All contestants are invited to attend.
The second round of the Pro-Am will be played April 3. The Awards Party will be held at the conclusion of play at Brewton Country Club. All contestants are welcome to attend.
On the final day of the event, April 4, the final round for professionals and top four amateurs will be played. The awards presentation will follow.

The event contains a projected $35,000 purse. First prize for professionals will be $6,000 guaranteed and $8,000 guaranteed if there are at least 60 pros.
The entry fee is $575 for tour members, $675 for non-members, $250 for PGA professionals who are playing the Pro-Am only.
The amateur entry fee is $120 for Brewton Country Club members and $165 for non-members.

Jefferson Davis Community College will host a Hunter Education Class March 6-7 at the Neal Colonial Building.
The March 6 session will be held from 8 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Students should make their own lunch arrangements. The March 7 session will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Students must attend both classes to receive credit and students must be at least 10 years old to receive credit.
Anyone born on or after August 1, 1977 must complete and pass a certified hunter education class before they purchase their first hunting license in Alabama.
No pre-registration is required. The course is free to the public and everything will be provided.

The Brewton Babe Ruth Baseball League has scheduled player evaluations for March 2 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the T.R. Miller High School Field.
Player registration will be held Thursday from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the T.R. Miller Field House.
All players must register. Any new player must show a birth certificate at registration.
