Mr. McArthur Hines, 87, of Flomaton died Friday, Feb. 20, 2004 at a Santa Rosa hospital. He was a native of Darlington, Ala. and had been a resident of Flomaton since 1955. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps in the Pacific. He served as vocational director for Escambia County Schools and was instrumental in starting the Little League and the Quarterback Club in Flomaton.
He is survived by his wife, Elise M. Hines of Flomaton; two sons, John McArthur Hines of Oxford, Ga. and William Neil Hines of Flomaton; two daughters, Joyce H. Yeouze of Peachtree City, Ga. and Helen H. Cannon of Milton, Fla. and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 22, at 2 p.m. at Flomaton Funeral Home with Minister Pete Davis and Elder Larry White officiating. Burial followed at Flomaton Cemetery with Flomaton Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Ronnie Higdon, Billy Sunday, Ronnie Hammond, Pat Jarvis, Guy Waller and Kevin Gooden. Honorary pallbearers were Ken Hall, John L. Folsom, Leon Jackson, Leemond Kelly, Emmett Windham, Billy Helms, John Temple, Jack Glasgow and Albert Sunday.
