Rev. Willie George Dailey, 85, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004 at a Pensacola hospital. He was a native of Burnt Corn, Monroe County and a resident of Atmore for many years. He was a member of Zion Star AME Zion Church of Atmore and retired with Ingalls Shipyards. He had also pastored several churches in the area. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mattie Dailey, eight of his brothers and sisters and his sons, Johnny E. Dailey, George Dailey and Don E. Dailey.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Dailey of Atmore; seven daughters, Verna Dailey of Mobile, Elizabeth Knight of Boston, Mass., Barbara Dailey and Celestine Dailey, both of Philadelphia, Penn., Margaret Walton and Frances Dailey, both of Atmore and Diane Dailey of Pascagoula, Miss.; three sons, Willie James Dailey of Mobile, Theodore Dailey of Boston and Mack Dailey of Pascagoula; two sisters, Rosa Lee Jones of Atmore and Fronnie Sellers of Pascagoula; two brothers, Harkless Dailey Jr. of Philadelphia and Paul Dailey of Moss Point, Miss.; 50 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 28, at 11 a.m. at Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church with Bishop Willie L. Williams officiating. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home directing.
