Auburn University's College of Engineering will hold its first engineering summer camp July 11-16. Teams and Individuals Guided by Engineering Resources (TIGERS) Summer Camp is a residential camp for students who will be in the seventh or eighth grade in the fall.
"We are excited about the camp. It's a fabulous experience in engineering for young students," said Shirley Harris, student advisor in the Office of Engineering Student Services.
Program activities include workshops, tours and lectures guided by practicing engineers and engineering students who will answer questions about preparing for high school, college, and an exciting career in engineering. Campers will have 24-hour supervision by experienced counselors.
The camp fee of $285 includes a $25 non-refundable registration fee, lodging in a campus residence hall, materials and supplies, organized social activities, a camp hat and a welcome event on July 11 from 3 to 7:30 p.m.
Only 40 spaces are available. Registration forms can be acquired from Engineering Student Services by calling 334-844-4310; e-mailing Shirley Harris at shirleys@eng.-auburn.edu; or writing or visiting the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering at 104 Ramsay Hall, Auburn University, Ala. 36849. Registration deadline is April 30.
