It was a good day to be a girl, but not so good to be a boy in the T.R. Miller tennis program Monday.
The Lady Tigers won six of nine matches for an overall 14-7 triumph over visiting Opp. Meanwhile Opp won five matches on the boys side and claimed a narrow 12-9 triumph.
Singles winners for the Lady Tigers included Catherine Stokes by a 10-0 margin, number three Kara Smith by a 10-1 score, number four Leah Crawford prevailed 10-6 and Melissa Padgett was a winner in the sixth slot at 10-3.
T.R. Miller also won two of three doubles matches. Grace Miller and Stokes posted an 8-5 win at the number one spot, while Smith and Crawford notched an 8-3 win at number two.
In boys play, singles winners for the Tigers included number one Hayes Martin by a narrow 11-10 (7-3) margin, number five Karl Kast by a 10-1 score and number six Marshall Bracken by a 10-8 count.
Doubles play proved decisive where Opp won two of three matches. The Tigers' lone win came from the number three team of Bracken and Kast by an 8-4 score.
T.R. Miller was supposed to play W.S. Neal Tuesday, but that match was cencelled. The Tigers and Lady Tigers are now off until April 15 when they host Greenville at 4:30 p.m.
