From this point on, it will be do or die for both the T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal track teams.
Both the Tigers and Lady Tigers closed out the regular season with victories on their home turf Thursday although in vastly different fashions.
The Tigers won 14 events, which included all three relays, and racked 240 points. That total was more than 132 more than their closest competitor. W.S. Neal was third in the meet with 66.
The Tigers got four wins from Antonio Gomez. Gomez took the long jump (21-1 1/4), the triple jump (41-1 1/4), the 100 meter high hurdles (15.17) and the 300 intermediate hurdles (43.34). Michael Jones was a double winner with victories in the 100 meter dash (11.1) and 200 meter dash (22.83). Demetris Preyer also won two events, as he took the javelin (129-3) and discus (124-0 1/2).
The Lady Tigers squeaked past Central 118-114 for team honors on the girls side. W.S. Neal tied for fourth with 41.
Keonshaye Lane, Joy McCorvey and Crystal Higdon were all double winners for T.R. Miller.
Lane won the high jump (4-8) and long jump (14-0), McCorvey took the 100 meter dash (12.36) and 200 (27.09). Higdon came out on top in the 1600 meters (6:18) and 3200 meters (14:03).
T.R. Miller will host the Class 3A Sectional Meet Thursday. Field events get underway at 9:30 a.m.
