Mrs. Thelma Wadkins, 85, died Saturday, April 17, 2004. She was a native and life-long resident of Century and a member of Century United Methodist Church for 72 years. She taught school at Century Elementary for over 39 years. She is preceded in death by four sisters, Evlynne Deane, Myrtle Conolly, Julia Dunn and Mildred Zapolsky and a brother, Max Garrett.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, W.L. Wadkins, two sons, Ron Wadkins and Gary Wadkins; a daughter, Cheryl Carlos; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 19, at 2 p.m. at Century United Methodist Church with Rev. John Webb officiating. Burial followed at Mize-Wadkins Cemetery with Flomaton Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Ron Wadkins, Patrick Wadkins, Brian Wadkins, Garrett Wadkins, Edward Deane, Lamar Dunn, Michael Dunn and Monte Carlos.
